	Liberty Place meets special housing needs in Platteville for persons with developmental disabilities. The 1-story building completed in 1992 provides independent living in 10 efficiency apartments. In addition to on-going property management by Kathy Richards Management, residents receive a wide range of social services through Grant County. Liberty Place is within walking distance of downtown and other places of local employment for residents.

	Residents served by the development have a wide range of physical and mental challenges, including cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome, and psychological disorders. Prior to Liberty Place, housing opportunities were limited for these individuals. Many were in institutions, group homes, or homeless. Residents now lead productive, independent lives working at local convenience stores, supermarkets and manufacturers.

	Liberty Place was made possible through an investment of $287,000 by Alliant Energy and financing through the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA).
